  • To Many Days

I was wondering if it is legal in the state of Maine for my boss to make me work 2 weeks straight without a day off. We have three employes including myself and I have to train the new girls, clean carpets, do laundry, clean the trash bins and sometimes do yard work. I'm supposed to be a housekeeper not a multitasker. I drive 45 minutes to and from work everyday and I'm tired. Can I demand a day off?

    Too Many Hours

Your employer can require you to work, as long as the hours do not exceed 80 hours of overtime in a two-week period. In other words, you cannot be required to work more than 160 hours in a two-week period (roughly 11 hours and 25 minutes a day on average).

By the way, your employer can require you to perform any tasks, as long as they are not illegal.
