Hello! I'd appreciate any advice I can get on this matter.

I was hired at the first part of October as an independent contractor. I finally received a contract on November 30th, (almost 2 months later) but I never signed it mainly because I was contemplating leaving anyway because of the way the business was ran. I finally quit December 12th and requested payment for my last days of completed work. The contract stated that I was to give a 30-day notice and if I didn't I would not be paid for my last 30 days of work. I didn't sign the contract, but they said that since it was "in my possession" it was not null and void. I'm in the state of WV. They are in VA.

Can I get paid for this?

    Thank you for your help.

You will have to have your contract reviewed by a local attorney versed in contract law. The Dept. of Labor will not take your claim since you were not an employee, and we cannot comment on a document we have not read in its entirety, nor do we know any other circumstances that may apply here.
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.
