  • Given a new position, then revoked

I was promoted to General Manager, from VP Operations back in 2nd Qtr 2004. I was given verbal confirmations of the new salary and additional benefits (a car) and an announcement was made to the rest of the staff (the other VP's) Two weeks later corporate (NJ) wants me to come up and interview with the CEO, staff and talk to the psychologist. This all went well...so I thought. Two weeks after I return, the local president comes in and tells me that corporate has changed their mind. When asked "Why?" the reply was "They didn't think you had enough experience", which of course led to why did they give me the promotion anyway? Do I have any legal grounds to stand on here?

Obviously, they were overruled by corporate. That is not illegal and you have no legal recourse unless you have a valid, enforceable contract governing the terms of your new position that prohibits such demotion.
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.
