    I am employed by a Large publicly held company and am considering starting my own business. I'm pretty sure a very large client would prefer to go along with me. However, I recall signing something that said I couldn't contact clients for six months. I don't have this form with me right now. I have to track it down through HR. My questions are 1. What are my options? Can I discuss an exit plan with my client, resign, and then have the client follow. 2. Does the client have to leave first, then I resign and reestablish our relationship? And do I need to wait six months? I know I need to talk to an attorney, but I just want to know if there is any precedent or loophole to make this happen in California. Thanks for any advice.

    Yes, you do need to have an attorney review the document in its entirety. Hopefully, no one here would deign to give you an opinion on a document we haven't read.
