  • PA unemployment eligible?

I worked for a hospital in PA as a salaried employee and was laid off last year. After 5 months, the director called me back with an offer to work there again as a salaried employee. During negotiations, which took a few more months, she said that the department she worked for said that there were not enough grants to cover me for more than a year, so that I had to be a contract person. I have been working since January. This position is similar to when I was salaried. I am expected to be there, my work pretty much requires it. I have an office, computer, etc. I must account for my time daily: how many hours for each contract. When my original contract ended, they would only give me a contract through December. Am I eligible for unemployment when my contract ends?

Are you an employee or an independent contractor?

Then, unemployment benefits are not available to you; such benefits are only for employees (well, ex-employees).
