    WA State - My sister in-law informed me today that her employer is deducting shortages from her paycheck when Lotto, fuel and/or market sales comes up short. The shortages are being divided among the employees who are scheduled during the shift regardless of who made the mistake. Is there a specific law that can be referenced to support her in this case?

    Unless this is the final paycheck, or the employee authorizes the deduction in advance, no they cannot. See here:
