    I worked for a michigan employer and paid strictly commission. Due to a lack of jobs, both by myself and lack of advertising from the company, I quite and found another job. Does the employer have an obligation to keep the employees gainfully employed (meaning making money)?

    In the situation you describe and based on the facts in your post, no.
    The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
