  • Time and a half for working holidays

    Hi -

I believe that Rhode Island is one state that requires time and a half pay for (some) employees who work Sundays and Holidays - Is that correct and if so are there other states that require the same?

    Thanks in advance...

Yes, Rhode Island does require time and a-half be paid to employees who work on Sundays and holidays. It also appears there are a whole bunch of exceptions: http://www.dlt.ri.gov/ls/faqs.htm#Wh...al%20holidays?

I'm not aware of any other State with a similar requirement.

Massachusetts. Again, only in some circumstances.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
