my husband is a transmission mechanic in New York state and he would like to know if there is a limit on how much weight they can lift. some of the transmissions are 100 to 150 lbs and they are expected to lift and even carry them. can you tell me if there is a limit and if so how much?

    Safety

He is limited only by what is considered as a safe practice...vague, huh? There isn't a specific rule as far as lifiting and your husband's job is concerned. www.osha.gov. On the other hand, if he or someone else were to become injured, OSHA can say that the lifting was unsafe. I would talk with OSHA.
