    I live in the state of Missouri, I am an assistant manager of a hotel, I am on salary I am scheduled for 56 hours a week. My question is that my employer deducts pay from our paychecks if we request an extra day off in addition to our normal day off. Can she legally do this? I am working about 65+ hours right now and I need a extra day off but I don't want her to deduct it from my pay. What can I do?

    You are salaried, thus exempt. If you work overtime, which it sounds like your normal job is over 40 hours a week, they do not have to pay you since you are salaried. If you miss a day, however, if the comp policy will not cover you, you can be deducted a day's pay if not a sick day or vacation day. Ask the manager to use comp time to cover a day off. The worst the manager can say is no and note all the extra hours you have done, which are way in excess of 12 hours.
