  • Taking Comp Time Earned

Where I work (in a Texas School district) we are permitted to accumulate up to 10 hours (max) of comp time. At work there is one supervisor who does not like for us to accumulate comp time at all, and she does not like it even when we take our comp time earned. This supervisor finds opportunities to make us take our comp time when she dictates. I prefer to use my comp time in cases of emergencies and so it helps to have comp time saved "in the bank" so to speak. My co-workers and I do not abuse the 'comp time arrangement' and we never exceed the limit of 10 hours. This supervisor is so strict and she makes sure that we do not even come close to 10 hours.

In the state of Texas, is there a law that prevents a supervisor from dictating when an employee can take his/her comp time earned? Does a supervisor have the right to force us to take our comp time when it is convenient for him/her? Please advise.

    Comp Time

There isn't any policy protecting an employee's use of comp-time. The only option you may have is if the district policy protects its use.
