  • Not allowed to take accrued personal days after submitting resignation? Florida

Hi. I submitted my resignation and still have some personal, sick, and vacation time. I have a dentist appointment and was going to take a personal day to do this, but got the following response from HR:

Personal days used in the last 2 weeks of employment are counted as vacation time. I will submit ½ day vacation for you as you still have some accrued time left.

    Is this legal?

Yes, it is legal because there is no federal nor Florida law prohibiting it.

This is not all that uncommon, btw.
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.

Many employers do this after you give notice.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Leo Buscaglia
