  • Labor Law concernes Nebraska

I work at a salon in Nebraska. It is a 50% commission salon. We are scheduled to be at work (most of us work 40 hours). Sometimes I sit from 9am to 8pm and dont have an appointment. so im sitting their not making a dollar. I have asked my employer if I could just leave since I dont have appointments and she says no.

So my question is does she have to pay her employees minimum wage if their commission does not exceed minimum wage?

I have been told that it is a federal labor law. Is this true?

Yes, you have to be paid minimum wage. The federal law is FLSA.
