  • Exempt Salaried Employee Questions California

    Hi guys,

I am an exempt, salaried employee in california (mechanical engineer):

I was at work and about 5 hours in, wasnt feeling good and left, I was docked the remaining 3 hours in pay.

    Is this acceptable?

How does a 1 day vacation work with salary pay?

    Steve

Unless FMLA applied (which it likely would not under these circumstances), the salary of an exempt employee cannot be docked for partial day absences.

The employer can, however, charge that absence to your vacation or sick time that may be available.

What exactly are you asking with your last question regarding vacation and exempt salaried employees?
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.
