    How many hours can an employer work an employee without a day off?

    Unless your state has a "day of rest" law or unless you're in a regulated industry such as long-haul trucking or airline pilot, there are no laws that address this.

      Mississippi has no day of rest laws. Unless you are in an industry that has specific laws addressing this (Marketeer has given examples), you can legally be required to work 365 days a year.

      Do I agree with requiring employees to work that long? No, I do not. Is it legal for an employer to do so? Under both Federal and state law (in a great many states including yours) yes, it is.
      The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

        So long as they pay overtime, who cares?
        At $9/hr. @ 8 hrs/day = $72/day. After 40 hours, that becomes $13.50/hr., or $108.

        So.....Sunday through Saturday, 8 hours a day, by the time you hit Thursday, you have $360 accrued. Now, for the remaining two days, it's $216 ($9 @ 8 hrs./day x "time & one-half" for overtime x 2 days). Those 7 days made you $576.

        $9/hr. is speculation only, of course. The more you make the merrier the tax collector....

          The OP seems to rather have time off though than work so many days in a row with OT pay.

          Also, there's a "possibility" the OP could be an exempt employee.

              Well, in this case if they are exempt, they get no OT (no add'l. compensation) - they get their regular fixed weekly salary no matter how many hrs. a work week they work.

              If they are non-exempt, then they would qualify for OT when the meet the necessary hrs. worked.
