  • MA laws regarding pay cuts? Massachusetts

I am looking to reduce some hours of employers and somebody told me that if you cut their pay by more than 10% it is illegal? Is this true? I find it hard to believe but want to double check before I make any moves. Thanks!

    There is no such law.

Are you cutting hours, or reducing the hourly wage?
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

      MA laws regarding pay cuts?

I am cutting hours of a commissioned employee. She will lose her health benefits because of the cut. It is unfortunate but I am in the same boat as a lot of employers at this time having to make difficult decisions with lay offs/pay cuts etc.,
