California Personnel Files: Can Manager place document in file without notifiying you

FYI, a wrongful termination means that you were termed for a reason prohibited by law, not that you were termed for something you didn't do or for an unfair reason.

Thank you CBG, but I don't need the definition. I am asking because this is one more thing to put in the lawsuit, if I was liebeled by management without cause.

No, they do not have to show you every piece of paper they place in your personnel file.

Does anyone know if it is a law that employees be told of a manager placing a derogatory note (which in my case, was unfounded) in my personnel file.

I was terminated and now want to include liebel as what they said was potentially used by management to discredit me, but I had no knowledge of this document until after I was wrongfully terminated, and went in to view my personnel file.

Lo and behold, here is a write up that I never knew they had placed in my file.
