  • Forced to take lunch hour Georgia

I am a salaried physical therapist working 40+ hours/week in private clinic. Previously working 8 hour shift (straight through... no breaks, no lunch). Suddenly boss demands that I take a lunch break (increasing day to 9 hours) and he says this is due to "Law". Can you tell me what law requires me, as a healthcare professional in the private sector, to take a 1 hour break.

There is no federal or Ga. law that requires lunch and/or rest breaks. However; if your employer/boss requires you to take a lunch break of 1 hr., then you must take one. Your boss gets to set the rules.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Leo Buscaglia
