  • reproting to work pay California

As employer if an employee is called into work do we have to pay him half his shift or at least 4 hours. Below is what I found and I wan to make sure I am understanding it correctly.

    (A) Each workday an employee is required to report for work and does report, but is not put to work or is
furnished less than half said employee’s usual or scheduled day’s work, the employee shall be paid for half
the usual or scheduled day’s work, but in no event for less than two (2) hours nor more than four (4) hours, at
the employee’s regular rate of pay, which shall not be less than the minimum wage.

Please let me know asap if you have an answer.

It reads to me as no less than 2, no more than 4.

Half his scheduled hours, minimum of 2 hours, maximum of 4 hours.

So if their normal shift is 8 hours but they only work for 45 minutes do we need to pay them for half their shift - 4 hours?
