  • Not paid after store closes Illinois

My 16 year old daughter just started working at a local ice cream shop. She just received her first pay check. She is only getting paid from the time she gets there until the shop closes, say 4pm-10pm. The only problem is that she has to stay after closing to clean out the ice cream machines, usually an hour to hour and a half. Shouldn't they have to pay her for that also?

    Yes.

    Federal hours worked rules.

The workweek ordinarily includes all time during which an employee is necessarily required to be on the employer's premises, on duty or at a prescribed work place. "
