  • denying higher paid employees from working on a holiday New York

hello, i work for a large retail company. on holidays (such as labor day) hourly employees receive time and a half. im a supervisor, i work hourly an receive benefits such as vacation time. i was told that i'm not allowed to work on any holiday where i would be paid at time and a half because its too expense for the company to pay me. it there any legal issues with being denied the option to work on a holidays?

None whatsoever. Not unless who can and who cannot work on a holiday is determined by race, religion, gender etc. It's not even remotely illegal to keep costs down by scheduling lower paid employees to work on higher-paid days.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
