  • Is this legal?

A friend of mine works as a dental assisstant. Whenever there is an office meeting the employees are required to attend, the office manager makes everyone clock out (they're paid hourly). Sometimes these meeting last hours and everyone is off the clock and not getting paid to be there. Is this legal?

If the meetings are mandatory, no it isn't. My recollection is that dental assistants do not meet the criteria for exempt status.
