  • California~Question about Good Friday??? California

I have a question maybe someone can help me with. My employer has given our warehouse guys 1/2 day off with pay for Good Friday. Is this legal and why should the office staff have to stay all day?

    Is this legal

Yes, it is legal. If he wants to give his staff a half day off with pay there is nothing in the law that will stop him.

why should the office staff have to stay all day?

Because it is still a work day. It is legal to treat different groups of employees differently as long as it is not because of a protected characteristic. Being office staff is not a protected characteristic.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
