  • Specific lunch hour for the whole office?? (in NJ) New Jersey

I have a quick question. Is it legal for an employer to stipulate that ALL employees MUST take lunch in the same time slot? For example, they maintain that the whole office must go to lunch from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, regardless if you come to work at 8, 8:30, or 9am. Their rationale is that thats is when the client goes to lunch. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

NJ has no provisions that require breaks or lunch at all. If provided the employer sets the schedule and therefore can tell you exactly when to go.

And, if that's when the clients go to lunch, it makes perfect business sense for the people that support the clients to go at that time, too.
