    Generally speaking, yes, as long as you know ahead of time that your hourly rate will be lowered if X occurs (or doesn't occur). There MAY be some contractual obligation for a specific rate that is not subject to decrease based on performance, but you'd have to see a local attorney versed in contract/employment law to discuss that.

    You're obviously not happy there. Why do you stay?
