    [FONT="Trebuchet MS"]Lately my husband often drives 45 minutes to his 3rd shift job and is told "there's no work". He's sent home and has a "choice" of either getting the day off or taking one of his very few vacation days. He receives no compensation at all for this fiasco. Of course when those vacation days are gone and he's ill, he'll lose his job if he misses more than just a few days! I guess we're supposed to feel lucky, as they used to tell him he HAD to take the vacation day. Can you please tell me, is this all legal and within their rights as a company?[/FONT]

    Nothing you have posted violates any laws.

      We're assuming that your husband is nonexempt (generally speaking, paid on an hourly basis).

        He is paid on an hourly basis, yes. I was afraid that this was legal and just terribly inconsiderate and unfair. Thanks for the responses.
