    Does anyone know if there us a Ma law that if a paerson who is employeed as a part time worker and works 1500 hours or more in a year they are considered full time and have to receive all full time benifits?

    Except for a couple of states (Ma. is not one) there is no # of hrs. an employee is considered full-time after working. It is up to the employer to decide the requirements for full time. No, there is no law in Ma. that 1500 hrs. or more worked a yr. qualify you as a full-time employee & qualify you for benefits that full-time employees might get.

      Betty is correct; no law in MA (or any other state) requires an employer to classify an employee as full time if they work 1500 hours a year or more.

      However, the state of MA passed a law last year that makes any employee who works 35 hours a week full time for purposes of health insurance benefits ONLY. 35 hours per week works out to 1820 hours annually.

      It is still up to the MA employer what consitutes full time for other benefits. The law in question applies ONLY to health insurance.
