  • Pay for returning to office Maryland

If I am required to pick up a company vehicle at our office location and return it to the office in the evening, is the company required to pay me from the time I pick up the vehicle until I return it. They say they are only required to pay me one way and they will not pay for the drive back to the office to drop off the vehicle. Sometimes this drive can be up to 2 hours.
Our office is located in Maryland.

If you are required to return to the office to return the vehicle, then yes, they must pay you for this time. It need not be at the same rate as when you are performing your primary duties, but they do have to pay you.

If you are not being paid for this time, see here for your options
I post with the full knowledge and support of my employer, though the opinions rendered are my own and not necessarily representative of their position. In other words, I'm a free agent.

ElleMD is assuming, of course, that you are a nonexempt employee.
