  • Minimum paid hours if sent home?

If you are called into work, in ohio, and sent home when you get there, Is there a minimum amount of hours the employer is entitled to pay you. The company is Construction and non-union. One more question, Can an employer deduct pay for a person being late . For example: Our company deducts 50 cents per minute for being late. We are also on a point system. May not seem like much but imagine being 4 hours late paying 120 dollars and getting 2 of 4 possible points before termination. (called in 1 hour before clock-in time about car trouble.

Ohio is not one of the very few states that has a minimum shift or reporting pay rule.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
