  • Child Labor Illinois - Breaks

Now I've seen many posts on how you have to work for 7.5 hours to get an unpaid meal break. I was wondering if this is the same for employees under age 18? (i.e. 16)

In Illinois, a child under the age of 16 must have a 30 minute break no later than the 5th hour of work. Once the child turns 16 there is no further break requirement.

The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
