  • Pay on Break Maryland

Forgive me if this is too simple of a question, but Maryland labor laws indicate that minors (under 18) are entitled to 30 minute breaks from all work when working for 5 hours or more. Are employers obligated to pay workers during this period?

No, nothing in either state or Federal law requires PAID breaks of 30 minutes.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

Straight from the DLLR site http://www.dllr.state.md.us/labor/wa...unchbreaks.htm
I post with the full knowledge and support of my employer, though the opinions rendered are my own and not necessarily representative of their position. In other words, I'm a free agent.
