  • Not a typical travel time question...Illinois

We already know the laws for travel time refering to "portal to portal". What we need to know is:
1.) If you are an hourly employee and work a 40 hour work week and are then required to travel home from the job site can your employer still pay straight time? (This is portal to portal, and has already been established as compensatable time)

2.) Can your employer require you to sit out of town over weekend and then travel back on Monday in order to avoid paying overtime? (for instance if we work late on friday, completing our 40 hours, and then either want to travel back at that time, or on Saturday, can our boss require us to sit out of town without pay for the entire weekend and then drive back on Monday)

    Please help!
