  • Post hiring certifications Nevada

Me and my fellow security analyst work for a large national corporation that is headquartered in Texas, and we work in Nevada. After being hired by this company they now say that we have to get a certification for our jobs, which was not required at hiring. They are supplying the training materials, but they will only reimburse for the certification test if we pass it. My co-worker can't afford to pay for the test. Should the company be paying for the test up front?

Should and legally obligated are different things. Should they pay you up front? Maybe, particularly if the test is expensive. Is it required that they do so? No.
I post with the full knowledge and support of my employer, though the opinions rendered are my own and not necessarily representative of their position. In other words, I'm a free agent.
