  • Hiring policies re: background checks California

Our company has just started implementing background checks on perspective employees. We don't have any policies or procedures set up yet for hiring or denying someone employment based on the results of the background checks. For example one of our positions does require driving their own vehicles. A couple of perspective employees have come back with DUI's on their records. One from 6 years ago and one from 2 years ago. Can anyone give me advice on what types of standard policies their company has in place regarding these issues and how much time you allow to pass for something like this? Our company is in CA.
