  • Time and Attendance New York New York

We are currently using timecards to track our employees time and attendance; if an employee fails to swipe in or out for their shift, is it against the law to add a time punch in or out for them? I'm wondering are their any legal ramifications if I put in 9: am when in fact the employee got there at 9: 30 am and they can prove it. They way I do it now is simply add the hours in.

It is perfectly acceptable and legal for a supervisor to correct time cards when the punch is incorrect. But why would you want to change it to 9:00 when the employee didn't get in until 9:30?
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.

It was just a question/scenario. I have been told that we should not enter the punch for the employee because we are breaking FLSA rules.
