  • Arkansas disciplinary protocol

In the state of Arkansas, what are the general guidelines for disciplinary actions leading up to a potential termination of an employee by management? In other words, what steps does management need to implement in a small biz (<20 employees) to give fair and documented warnings, disciplinary actions and if necessary, terminations. We want to be fair and also stay within the law. But, we want to maintain quality employees giving quality work within the rules and guidelines of the business.

    Thank you

There are no laws in any state that determine how an employer may/must discipline an employee; as long as you do not violate Title VII or related laws it is up to you what disciplinary procedure, if any, you put into place.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
