  • CA - Final Wages Unpaid? - Expense check unpaid / Hourly Wage Check paid California

    Basic info of my problem.
I was on a company trip for 2 months, they didn't offer any pay increases at all, but let employee's know that living expenses would be covered by the company. Upon returning home to CA, I quit. Then recieved my "final pay" check in person, which included 0 expenses from the trip. I turned in multiple expense reports during the trip, all of which to this day have not been paid. It is now 3 weeks past my official "quit" day. I personally do not have a large bank account, and had informed my company of this prior to the trip and throughout the trip. Towards the end of the trip, I hit my overdraft on my account, and now can no longer pay my bills.

    I am wondering,
    A) whats the timeline to recieving final expenses from ex-employers.

    B) Would these expenses be considered compensation for the labor preformed since it was only food that was expensed.

    C) Would the penalty possibly apply in this case?

NOTE: The first expense report was turned in 2 months ago, and I still have not seen anything from the company.

If they have not been paid you can file a claim with the DLSE.

Agree, you can file a complaint/claim with the DLSE or instead you can choose to file a lawsuit against the company.
