  • Experiences with PQBS contractor firms

Does anyone have any recent experiences with Australian PQBS
contractor firms such as Lester Associates? If so, I'd love to hear if
they were good or bad. I would especially be interested in hearing
from anyone working in IT that is currently using one of these firms
    to work in Australia.

I'm working in the UK at the moment but am considering trying to get
out to Australia to work. I'm in the IT sector with several years
experience and would be interested to hear if there is enough demand
in the market to keep you in work.

Any information about your experiences with these firms is much
    appreciated.

    Hi Steve,

PQBS status is about to become a thing of the past, and all the labour hire
companies are in free fall. Best plan is to either apply for PR at the same
time as coming over on a working holiday visa, or come on a business ETA and
hope that someone wants to sponsor you. If you email me direct I can give
you chapter and verse of the changes.

    Cheers

That will send some agencies to the wall.

        Hi BP,

The word on the streets is that no-one is hiring PQBS agency labour at the
moment. Best advice I can give is to try to get potential employers to
        sponsor directly.

        Cheers

            Experiences with PQBS contractor firms

I have a three tier arrangment which generally goes like this:

            1) Visa Sponsor (PQBS)
            2) recruitment agency
            3)Client
            4)Myself

Was concerned about the changes posted in this forum and talked to the
PQBS lawyer who confirmed that this sort of arrangment was untenable
and that the new changes would be implemented on completion of my
            current contract (January)
They didn't seem overly concerned and pointed out that it was a matter
of the PQBS dealing directly with the client and that they would work
out an arrangment where the Client paid them and they in turn
distributed the money accordingly to me and the recruitment agency.

I have just been assigned a case officer for my 136 so hoping to get
out of this potential quagmire of laws and conditions pretty soon. It
does take time and a few sleepless nights trying to get the arrangment
I have in place and luckily I have been with the same client for
almost 2 years..hoping I can ride this out until I get my PR.

Incidentally if you do want to go through Lesters I would highly
recommend them, I have worked with them for almost 3 years and I
            cannot be happier.

George, would it be possible to email me the details of the changes
involving PQBS? There's never anything like too much knowledge when it
comes to immigration matters I believe.

            cheers
            Vincent
