  • short term disability in NJ New Jersey

This is my story, I hurt my back and received short term disability from the state of NJ. My employer terminated my position while I was on disability. I recovered, received a letter to return to work from my doctor, filed for unemployment, was denied, waiting for appeal. In the meantime, I was in my car stopped at a stop sign when a van hit me in the rear. I go back to my doctor , he takes xrays and finds that one of my vertebraes in my spine is fractured, and my lower back is now again after recovery, aggravated. He tells me , no physical work, at all , for 3 weeks until I see him again. My question finally, is this,. I exhausted all of the State disability funds from my last disability. i know now that even though I have a claim with unemployment , I have to inform them that I am now unable to work . So, Can I open a new claim with State disability? or is this finished for me?
