i was wondering if it is alright for a company to give one person a pay increase and not the another person who had the same qualifications.
We have a grade system for pay levels at my old job. I trained for a position about six months ago be told that i was going to get a grade increase however i never received it because they said i did not meet all the qualifications. However about two weeks ago another co-worker received the same grade increase and has the exact same training and qualifications that i have. When i brought the issue up with my manager he said that i will be treated fairly. Then i asked him a couple of days later he said that my paperwork showing my training had been lost and nobody seemed to know where it was and seems how they didnt have it i could not receive the increase. What should or can I do? |

Unless you have valid evidence that you were not given a raise and the other employee was, BECAUSE OF your race, religion, national origin or other protected characteristic, there is nothing for you to do. Nothing in the law says that you ever has to be given a raise; nothing in the law says that you have to get a raise when your co-worker does.
