Question Law regarding health ins., VA.

Is an employer required to assist with health insurance for employees working 40 hour weeks? My brother has worked for the same co. for 30 years and has no insurance or retirement benefits.

Thanks

There is no law in any state that requires retirement benefits be offered and only one state (Hawaii, under certain conditions) that requires medical insurance be offered by the employer. Sorry.

Just as an FYI, within the last week the MA legislature has signed off on a law (it has not yet been signed by the governor but he is expected to do so) under which, although employers are not required by law to provide health insurance, employers who do not provide health insurance must pay $295 per employee to the state.

You better believe it. I'll give you some of the other details next I talk to you. They really don't belong in this thread.
