Is it against the law for my employer to disclose medical conditions about me to all other employees? This was done in a memo which I have a copy and I'm dumbfounded! |

Possibly, but we don't have enough detail to say for certain.
What kind of medical information was it and how did the employer obtain it? |

I told my boss I needed to take a few vacation days to adjust to new medication. She asked medication for what and I told her depression. Unbeknownst to me when I returned a week later everyone was acting strange. At our staff meeting, only 9 employees, I was handed the pass on notes from the week that I was out. There it was in black and white that I would be out because of meds...overlook her behavior because she is mentally ill. I am outraged and made it known. This is not the first time I've had to deal with this issue.

It's not a violation of HIPAA, because it is information you provided to the employer and not information he obtained through the group health plan.
I'll have to research whether it violates any other laws. |
