Default being charged for lunch

i work in a cell phone business. i have been working 5 1/2 hours a day. is it legal to charge me for a 30 min. lunch break when i do not take it. if i am the only one in the store i can not leave. if i eat i am still required to take care of calls and wait on people if they come in. when i have to work 9am to 6 pm and am the only person can they still dock 30 min. for lunch when i can;t leave what are the laws. tired of being short on pay because of this.

please give me advise or in writing what the answer is so i have back up when i bring this to my bosses atention. thanks hope to hear from someone soon.

No, if you do not take a lunch they have to pay you for the time. The Fair Labor Standards Act says that you have to be paid for all the time you actually work.
