Question retaliation defamation

I work for a major corp for 15+ years I reported my boss for having his wife and son working at our office and paying them through a temp service against corp.policy and turned in billing showing he charges customers for work that is not done.He knows it was me,he gave me my performance review 2 weeks ago.he lied on my review and accused me of stealing inventory and selling customers used parts I had no idea were he came up with this crap but i was furious he just made it up we had inventory 6 months ago on two trucks that I had not signed for I was not responsible these inventories and nothing was ever said until the review he also included several other lies none as bold as this one .Also was written up same day for not reporting traffic violations in November but I didnt recieve any violations I got pulled over for expired tags that he failed to renew and the judge dimissed it.He claims he didnt know but he let me off to go to court that day I have proof of this.He is making my life hell I have proof that all this is bs and I have a witness that he told he was going to fire me for telling on him. what should I do get a lawyer or let him fire me.

Who did you report your boss to? It makes a difference whether this is illegal retaliation or not.

I reported him to the legal section of HR and in turn the district manager which I found out is his buddy they made him pay back money to the company for charging personal items on the company charge accounts ( i have copies of these receipts)and made him have his family not work their anymore. They told me they were going to have HR person come to our office in early January to interview employees and look at some billing but it never took place.I called HR after my review and sent them copies of my performance review and the disapline action report but have heard nothing back.I work at a branch office of a big company our office has 12 employees but we have 200 offices all contact is done by phone or fax to the coporate office .They seem not to mess with managers that turn in good numbers to the company.HR has been useless

Unless you reported illegal activity to the appropriate regulatory agency, you may be out of luck. In general, internal complaints are not protected. Violations of corporate policy are not generally protected at all, with certain exceptions which do not apply here.
