Question Is this demotion right?

My husband has been with his company for over a year and a half. He was offered a management possition in virginia and salary. He was on a 6 months probation. One day before his 6 months was up, they demoted him back down to his original possition and back to min. wage. Is this right? He was told by another manager before taking the possition that if he was ever demoted that he was still alowed to keep his pay. Is this person right?

There is no law that requires a person to keep the same salary level if demoted. An employer is allowed to adjust salary lower on a going-forward basis.
