Default two weeks notice

Hello,

My company does not allow employees to submit a two weeks notice. If we come in and submit a two weeks notice, they inform their employees that XXX Company does not accept a two weeks notice and tells the employee to leave immediately. If they do not pay us for two weeks pay, is it illegal in the state of Virginia?

No, it is not illegal in any state. No state requires an employer to pay for unworked notice time, even if it is at the behest of the employer that it is not worked.

In some states you may be eligible for UI for that time. I don't know offhand if VA is one of them, but it cost nothing to apply and there is no penalty for being wrong.
