I recently put my 2 week resignation in with a company and they told me since I was unhappy with the company that they would let me go the day I put my resignation in instead of staying the full 2 weeks. Is this legal or do they have to pay me for those 2 weeks.

It's legal. They chose to accept your resignation immediately, and there is no law that requies them to pay for days that you do not work.
