Question Colorado law on emp uniforms/dress codes

My employer requires that I wear a company uniform shirt with company logo and specific color/stlye pants. They do provide the logoed shirt to me, but not the pants. Under Colorado labor law, is my employer required to provide the pants due to the specific color/style requirement? The Colorado labor law in regards to this is short, but also a bit vague as to what constitutes a "uniform". It states that "clothing that is considered ordinary streetwear does not constitute a uniform". In the eyes of the state law, are my pants considered "ordinary streetwear" if a specific color and style are required?

Can anyone clarify this for me?

Thank you.

No, simply being a required color and style does not mean that it is not streetwear and must be paid for by the employer. If they want you to wear black cords, for example, that's a specific color and style but you can easily wear it as streetwear with shirts other than your uniform shirt.

Default Uniforms

I'm an HR assistant manager for a construction company. We require empoyees to wear hardhats, steeltoe boots and safty vests on jobsites. These items cost $100.88 per empoyee and the company pays for these items. We loose alot of empoyees before 90 days and do not get the items we issue back becuase they are useless to us, noone else can use them. We want to recoup some of these cost from empoyees that leave before 90 days by taking it out of these last paycheck if they leave before 90 days. We are at-will employers. Under Colo law it says we must pay for and provide for uniformes, are these considered uniformes, we do require they wear them on certain locations but not all, just on work sites. Can we take out the expenses from an a terminated employee?? What's the best way to regain these lost profits??

Maybe. I would run this by the DOL though to make sure. See here:

But I would ask, why can't they be reused for other employees? Surely they aren't custom made to that extent and after less than 90 days, they wouldn't be worn out.

it does state here we can collect these items as long as there is a written agreement, as such we do require empolyees to sign an agreement outlining such charges if there quit before 90 days...
