Just a question because I don't know how much more I can take and can't find an answer anywhere else....
The company that I work for is family owned with only 3 locations in the state of North Dakota it is a hotel so it is open 24/365, I am a salery paid manager and have to work holidays if it falls on a weekday. Is this legal?? I don't recieve any more pay nor an alternate day off. When I work Thanksgiving all of the employee's get a $25.00 bouns and a $5 gift card to somewhere, managers get a movie ticket and a $5 gift certificate to somewhere. I am curious to see if it is legal not to pay time and a half or offer an alternate day off. Burntoutonwork |

The only employees who get paid federal holidays are those who work for the federal government. There are no laws requiring other employers to provide paid holidays.

And as a manager, I am assuming you are exempt, which means that the employer is not legally required to pay you overtime, no matter how many hours you work. Hospitality is a tough industry.
