Question Forced to Take Lunch

I was wondering does Alabama have a mandatory lunch law? Do you have to take it or does it just have to be offered? My husband has been working for this company for 8 years and they now have a new manager. He is on the road constantly and really has no time to take a lunch in order to get through his job in a reasonable amount of time. Now they are demanding him to sign a piece of paper stating that Alabama requires employees to take atleast one hour for lunch.

The state of Alabama does not require a one-hour lunch; no state does, with one industry-specific exception in NY. However, if the employer wants to require a one-hour lunch, they may do so regardless of whether the law mandates it or not. The employer, not the employee, designates hours worked and that includes breaks.
